EARTH receives strong support from the international community, including the United States, Europe and a growing number of Latin American countries. The United Nations Millennium Project recognized EARTH as a model for agricultural education and as proof that higher education can create social change. The Swedish Agency for International Development (SIDA) has also noted that an investment in EARTH "may be considered to be of greater benefit than other development investments…It is our conclusion that EARTH is an excellent vehicle for building human capacity.”

Because EARTH receives only 14 percent of its operating income from tuition, the need for philanthropic support is greater than most institutions of higher learning.
