Costs The annual cost of the holistic education offered at EARTH is $28,350 per student for those matriculating in January 2008. The University covers $13,750 of this total; the remaining $14,600 is the student’s responsibility. This cost remains the same for each of the four years, creating a total need of $56,700 per student for the graduating class of 2011.
Scholarships In order to maintain its philosophy of offering educational opportunities to young men and women from rural and economically challenged communities in the Latin American tropics, EARTH established a scholarship policy whereby approximately 80 percent of all students are on full or partial scholarship.
Based on this system:
- 50 percent receive full scholarships,
- 30 percent receive partial scholarships based on need, and
- 20 percent of students pay their own costs (tuition, materials, room and board).
A total of 1,851 students entered the University between 1990 and 2007. Seventy-six percent of that total (1,415 students) attended on full or partial scholarships. EARTH has been able to achieve this goal thanks to the generosity of donors who share the University’s vision of educating professional leaders who return to their home countries after graduation to effect change in their communities and create strong, sustainable agribusinesses. |
