Run for EARTH

View our sponsors:
All the things EARTH stands for.

Over two decades ago, a decision was made that our planet needed strong leaders to improve the social and environmental conditions that compromise our natural environment and thwart healthy economic growth in developing regions. EARTH University was founded in Costa Rica and serves as a training ground for future leaders of Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa who can address the problems facing their communities. These leaders are creating lasting change and building hope for a brighter future for their families, their communities and our world.

To celebrate 21 years of creating leaders of change at EARTH, we are asking our supporters to run or walk with us, showing the world that real solutions for global issues happen at EARTH University.

Run for Food Security

Access to clean and healthy food can be a major problem for families in developing areas around the world. EARTH alumni are equipped with the latest knowledge and techniques in sustainable agriculture to train rural farmers to better supply sustainably produced food to local communities. In urban communities, alumni are working to improve food access by creating affordable and sustainable urban gardens.

Run for a Healthy Planet

In many countries where EARTH students originate, the environment is being destroyed through unsustainable extraction of natural resources, the use of harsh chemicals in agriculture and over-development. Graduates of EARTH are trained in natural resource management and sustainable development techniques that allow them to combat these problems. While many EARTH alumni work with local communities to directly mitigate environmental damage, many other alumni address environmental issues at the policy level, creating lasting impact.

Run for Community Development

Employment can be scarce in rural, developing areas. With an EARTH education, alumni become job creators rather than job seekers and are creating new, sustainable businesses in their communities. EARTH graduates are stimulating long-term rural economic development, making a lasting impact on poverty in the regions where they work.
